Why Should We Know God?

The Bible tells us that to know God is to have eternal life.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3 (KJV)

Without knowing who God is we will not be able to take part in that eternal life that He has so freely given to all mankind.

The Bible tells us in John 3:16 that

“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God loves each of us and wants us to live forever with Him. He gave His Son to pay the price for us so that we would not have to perish but that we would have everlasting life. What a God is our God!!!

Hosea 4:6 tells us that a lack of knowledge brings destruction.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (KJV)

But God invites us to know and understand who He is that we might gain the victory over sin and escape the destruction that is to come upon this world because of sin.

1 Corinthians 15:34 (KJV)

Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Hosea 6:3 (KJV)

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Having a knowledge of who God is, is vitally important to each of us.  Let us diligently search the scriptures until we know what truly is the character of God!

A fourteen boy wanted to know more about God and his Son Jesus Christ. He went in a grove of trees and knelt down to pray about them. What he saw has restored to the earth the true knowledge of God and his Son Jesus Christ. Go to the facebook page titled Who is our God to get a first hand account of his vision.
