“Behold God’s Glory”-what does that mean?

2 Corinthians 3:18 (King James Version)

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

But, what is the glory of God?

Exodus 33:18-20 (King James Version)

18And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

19And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

When Moses asked the Lord to show him His glory, the Lord told him that He would show him His goodness and would proclaim His name.

When God appeared to Moses and let His glory pass before Moses, we something amazing!

Exodus 34:5-7 (King James Version)

5And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

6And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

7Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

God proclaimed Who He is when He passed before Moses.

Isn’t it amazing?!

God’s glory is His goodness, His name, His character!

Let us read 2 Corinthians 3:18 again.

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the character of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

When we dwell upon the divine character of God we are changed into His likeness!

Come and let us truly behold our God!
