“No work entrusted to human beings involves greater or more far-reaching results than does the work of fathers and mothers.”
The work of parents is vitally important and many of us do not understand the work that God has called us to do in our family. We look outside at other areas and sometimes forget those who are closest to us and those whom we have the greatest impact on.
Sometimes as Christians we think that when God told us go to and preach and teach and share the gospel that He was only referring to going to far away lands or out in the neighbourhood etc. He was referring to preaching, sharing, teaching the message with OUR CHILDREN through our words, but more importantly through OUR LIVES.
When people are starting up a business and depending on it to succeed they put in many hours. Some go on 2 hours of sleep for months. Some neglect to spend time and money doing what they consider as things that will not help their business succeed. They try to forge contacts and relationships with key individuals so that they can get ahead and the business will succeed.
As parents we are in the business of working for the salvation of our children. We have to lose sleep, lose friends, lose jobs, lose homes, lose opportunities for advancing our careers in order to raise these children for God!
Just like the entrepreneur who puts in untiring effort to see his business succeed, we too are to put in untiring effort to see our children become the persons who God would have them to be.
This is hard to do, and the way the world is going, it seems like raising godly children is going to get even harder. But we are assured that we will reap the harvest if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
