Who is This Man?…(A Family That Prays…Series)

family that prays

Last week we continued praying for our husbands by looking at As Christ is the Head. We looked at headship as representing Christ and that it therefore was important for husbands to know who Christ is.

Our prayers for husbands focused last week on them intimately knowing Christ, as we all should.

Today we continue this series by looking at this vitally important question-

“Who is Christ?”

Who is this person that husbands are representing or are supposed to represent?

There are a lot of good men that people emulate. There are a lot of inspirational writers and men of influence out there. But, none of these men are the ones who husbands should be like.

They are to be like Christ!

Ephesians 5:23 -For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.

Now a lot of wives hate this idea of headship because many husbands don’t understand what it is all about and therefore make a mess of their role. In turn, wives retaliate and lose sight of their role as well and therefore don’t fulfill their roles either. But this is for another post….

A lot of husbands don’t understand what it is all about and make the lives of their wives and families miserable because of it. They are tyrants who wield power and have no concept of what it means to be like Christ.

In the end, not knowing who Christ is and what it means to be the head as He is leads to so many problems in families. And we know that families are the foundations of societies and societies are the foundation of nations…If the family is wrong then society will be wrong, countries will be wrong….

So then, who is this man called Christ?

Christ is:

– Love- not simply loving, but LOVE

– Righteous

– Patient

– Long-suffering

Every positive characteristic you can think of Christ is.

Talk about a tall order for men to follow. But they must if they are to fulfill the role of husband as Christ is head. And you know the only way for them to be the head of the wife as Christ is the head, is for husbands to be like Christ.

May husbands learn who Christ is and study His life and let mom transform them. Then wives, children will be secure in their love and care instead of fearing, resenting…the role that God has called husbands to fulfill.
