Today we continue with praying for children and youth.
Our focus today is geared towards praying for the youth, but also is for praying for children too.
Have you ever noticed that many youth turn away from christinity when they hit between 14 to 19? I have witnessed it in my church growing up. There were at least 75 youth in a 5 year age span. That’s a lot of youth for a church with about 400 people! And this had nothing to do with those younger or older that this age range.
Field trips., hikes, social events in general, were bustling with youth.
Then the numbers began to dwindle.
Then they began to become virtually non-existent.
The years have rolled on and now only about 5 of us remain. And my remaining does not mean that I was constantly there. There was a period of time where I was visiting lots of churches, not for the gospel, but for the interaction with other youth, for feel good sermons and environments and not for the truth.many of us youth did this. And many just stopped coming all together.
Now I am certain that this problem is not isolated to my church alone. It is something that every church faces. And the questions is:
” What can we do to stop our youth from going away from God?”
Look we can’t force them to stay! The real problem is not in them staying or going. The real problem is that:
“Many youth have not been rooted and grounded in God’s love.”
And so when they are old enough they get swept away by peers, careers, jobs, fetes, excitement…life.
But when youth have found the truth of Who God is and they are grounded in that truth, I tell you, nothing can move them! Churches may change, but their relationship with God will remain. The only thing is that it will grow stronger and stronger.
Today, let us get down on our knees and pray for the youth in our families, those in our churches, our friends and ourselves if we are youth.
Ephesians 3:17-19 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
