A few days ago, we were all at the table eating. I noticed that our daughter was twisting around while eating. I asked her if she needed to use the bathroom and she said no. Then she quickly said yes.
Since she was sitting close to her father, he got up to take her to the bathroom since she is still too little to get onto the toilet by herself.
While she was being whisked off to the bathroom, she looked back and me and said,
“Don’t let anyone eat my food!”
And you could see that she meant every word of it!
In that instant it reminded me of this text:
“Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” (Revelation 3:11)
She was there squirming away “protecting” her food, so that no one would eat it. She didn’t want to leave the table because she didn’t want to leave her food unattended for fear that it might get eaten.
We have a crown to “protect”. Through the sacrifice of Christ, a Crown of life has been given to us all. When we accept it as our own, we are to guard it and see that NOTHING cause us to lose that precious gift that God has given to us.
