When Adam and Eve sinned, it was not “simply” that they broke the law of God and they needed to ask for forgiveness. When man sinned there was a seperation from the eternal God. A gulf was made that could only be bridged by someone who is eternal.
God, knowing the full extent of the seperation between humanity and Himself, decided to save man. No angel could do it. They could not pay the price to hridge the gap that sinned had caused.
Only One who is eternal could bridge the gap.
John 1:51 (KJV)
And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
And so God gave.
He did not lend
John 3:16 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
And what did He give?
He gave someone.
He gave His Son.
He gave His Son who is eternal to us to save us.
1 John 5: 11, 12
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
And can we imagine that lost sinners now have a chance, if we choose, to gain eternal life?
Can we imagine that we have been adopted into the household of God?
Can we imagine that we will live with the very life of God and sit on His throne?
All of this because of the love of God.
