October 2015: Raising children to be leaders
As parents we don’t want our children to follow the norms and practices of this world. We want them to think for themselves and to inspire others to do what is right.
This month our focus is on how we can raise our children to be leaders and not persons that simply are followers.
So what really is a leader?
“A leader is a person who has a vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision, and the skills to make it happen.”(quote)
Being a Christian leader is all about knowing your purpose in Christ. It is about being able to inspire others to follow your example. It is about motivating them, encouraging them in a particular way. As Christians this way that we encourage people is in following Jesus.
1 Timothy 4:12 (NASB)
Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.
Join us for the month of October as parents share with us how they seek to raise their children to be leaders. You can follow along in this series at any of our host blogs:
