Yesterday while I was driving with the children, my daughter announced to me, “Mommy I know we are related.” She had this glint in her eyes as she shared this extremely important information with me.
I smiled and said, “Yes, I know we are related.”
“Wolves are related to dogs,” she went on to tell me. I then questioned her to see if she understood thst related to meant thst they were family. She was extremely excited to hear all about things that were related to each other.
That made me think of another family thst should cause me to be extremely excited.
We are related to the King of the universe!
Hearing this should make us bubble with excitement like a little child does. I am certain that this is why Jesus told us that we should be like little children. Children see the joy in simple, but profound things. Children get excited because they know that they are related to their parents or to this person or another. They get excited and tell everyone they meet that wolves and dogs are related.
We are related to God!
Let that sink in for a minute.
We are not related to Him simply through the fact that we were created by Him. We are related to Him because when Adam sinned, all humanity was sold out in him.
Romans 5:12 KJV
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
But Christ came and died for us. Through His death we have been adopted into the family of God!
Galatians 4:5 KJV
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”
Romans 8:15 KJV
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4:7 KJV
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
We are children of God and joint heirs with Christ.
Let this fill our souls with joy. Let us be excited to tell the world
I am a child of the King!
Somedays you might not think that you are special, you might not think that you are worthy, but remember this one fact:
God thought that you were so special that when you were lost and an enemy, He adopted you into His family!
