Not My Will

Matthew 26:39

Jesus was at the point before He went into the most severe test that He could face. He would bear the sins of all humanity on himself.

How could He and how would He bear it?

Many of us find ourselves facing unbearable experiences. How will we ever be able to face them?

We must pray the prayer of Jesus in Gethsemane- “not my will, but thy will”.

If it were up to us, many crosses and trials that we are called to bear would be avoided. But, like Jesus knew, He must take that path for the good of humanity.

Many times we have to take certain paths, for our best good, even though we don’t see or know how it would be for our good.

How is suffering for our good?

How can pain be for our good?

How can death be for our good?

Only in eternity we will see. Then like Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4:15-17, we will realize that these are light afflictions and they will work out our eternal good.

2 Corinthians 4:15-17
