This evening while we were driving, my husband said something so remarkable to me.
He said “Raising a child is like holding a bird. You got to hold it tight enough so it wouldn’t get away, yet gentle enough so you wouldn’t crush it”.
This statement is SO true. We have got to set boundaries for our children, yet give them responsibility corresponding to their age and experience.
If we hold them too tight, their will/character will be broken.
If we hold them too slack we are in danger of allowing them to do whatever they want.
As parents we have to find that balance between, holding and letting go.
Great analogy! Thank you for this picture. I will ponder!
